Update on the little girl

Yesterday I told you about the little girl who had a stroke...

WELL

She did NOT have a stroke!! She had a migraine. And she came out of her paralysis and disorientation yesterday and is now FINE!

I cannot tell you how relieved I was to get this news yesterday.

I can express my absolute disgust with our Health Care "system"...

Seriously, that family is now going to have medical bills out the wazoo. They were so stressed already because the doctors told them their daughter had a stroke. Now they are dismissing them with some kind of meds, and do not expect to see anything of the family anymore, except half their paychecks, whether in premiums or actual bills or both. Which come to think of it, will prolly be more than half their pay for a while since they had to actually use the "system".

Am I making sense? Prolly not. I guess I cannot express that either. I may try to type out a well-thought-out and concise post containing all my extremely coherent thoughts on the subject someday. Maybe. Or not. haha

Anyhow.

I have to put some gratitude into words here:

Kevin can be so nice :)

Last night my nose was stuffy (its the ac, I'm tellin' ya) and he woke up in the middle of the night just to hook up the humidifier so that I could breathe!! I thought that was awful nice of him! ♥

Then this morning, Kela woke up all by herself again, and went up to take care of Babe, and also took care of the goats, and then ... fixed everyone breakfast!!! Bacon and scrambled eggs and toast!

What a sweetie-pie, huh?

I am typing this so that when she is driving me NUTSO I will remember that she has a good heart in there somewhere!! haha She really does have a good heart. It isn't her fault the hormones take over sometimes. (And I expect everyone to remember this when I am a cranky butt too!! LOL)

So anyhow, that is a small update from yesterday :)

Well, HELLO!

I bet you thought I dropped off the face of the earth! LOL

We have been soooo busy. And when we aren't busy, we are exhausted. I do love being smack dab in the middle of summer and having a lot to do though. It is just GOOD. Ya know? Good stuff.

So, I have to brag on Kela. :-D

She got up this morning, before anyone else, went up to the barn, cleaned the horse's stall, fed her, watered her, filled her stall with new sawdust stuff, and then... came home and took care of the goaties!! And the goaties are not even her job!!

WOW, right?!?!

I was impressed. :) And it takes a lot to impress me, it really does ;)

PLUS, btw, she also made two thank-you cards to send to my cousin Johnny and his company who donated stuff to her 4H camp. AND made brownies for a couple down at church (which we haven't delivered yet, but I will deliver these brownies if it kills me) whose family is going through a rough time right now.

(quick topic switch, hold on to your seats)

This poor family :( I am sooooo saddened by their whole situation right now :( I have to write about it.

The dad, or grandpa is what I should say maybe, he recently found out he has cancer in his spine. It is not looking good at all. Today he is at the hospital for 8 hours (8 hours!) doing chemo. Tomorrow 6. :( His sister, just recently had a surgery for a cerebral hemorrhage. :(

Well, last night he told us all about his grand-daughter. She is 11. She is a sweetie pie. Well, she had a stroke. She is 11. How does an 11 year old little girl have a stroke?!?! :( she is paralyzed on her whole right side and she doesn't even know her own name. *sob*

Prayers would be sweet, and appreciated I am sure.

(another quick subject change, you don't need tissues for this one)

So we are so busy still. The summer is not getting less busy. We have two weddings, and a baby shower, and a birthday party to go to in the next couple of weeks. Plus we will still be going up to Linda's to deliver her china cabinet soon.

That is, if Kevin gets it finished anytime soon.

(subject change again!)

SINCE

His old boss has been asking him to come back to work immediately if not sooner, for ... oh... the past few months :) But is in a sort of bind with a kitchen or something and is nearly in beggin mode to get Kevin to come back this week. :)

That is nice for the ego, I will tell you. I hope Kevin can help him out. And the paycheck will certainly be appreciated too :)

His old boss is a good guy. He is our preacher. :)

So. I think that's all I got.

(You could breathe a big sigh of relief at this point. Ooops it'll be short-lived relief because...)

I FORGOT!

Tomorrow night at midnight: HARRY POTTER!

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!

(ok. I am done now. I think. haha)

Whew!

We are still in the middle of working on Linda's kitchen :)

Basically, the counter top did not come in on time, so Kevin did not bother with the trim, since we had to come back anyway, plus we ran out of time :)

So he is going to work on the trim and all the extras (that we figured out she needed, like door jamb for the doorway to the basement, etc) and hopefully that counter top will be ready tomorrow.

We are planning on heading back up on Thursday. :)

So, we left Cassie and Faithy up there, and Kela's friend Joy came down here with us :)

When we got here yesterday, my mother-in-law Linda was here with our van :) They had taken it up to Lake Erie, because something was bad wrong with the framework or something on their car to where they could not drive it!!

So anyhow, we didn't have a need for our van, so they took it on their little day trip, and they brought it back and Linda drove it around here while Keith golfed and she waited for us to come home. Since we slept late and didn't get left until almost noon (which was the time we were supposed to be home! LOL)

We unloaded everything, except for the stove and microwave that Aunt Linda sent down for Leanna. They are still in the trailer :)

So while we are here, working on the little extras, Bud and Linda are doing the tile floor.

When we get up there and put the trim up and the counter on, it will be finished. Then Kevin is going to build her a beautiful china cabinet!!!

She is going to have such an awesome kitchen when she is done :)

I have not had time to look at any blogs, so sorry about that! I should be back in the groove next week :)

Hope you all are doing well!!! :)

Work work work

Kevin and I have been working on my Aunt Linda's kitchen this week. Busy busy!

As I sand the doors, I love watching how the grain appears. It is so pretty! Linda chose hickory, which is a variegated grained wood. Some parts of it are dark and some parts are nearly white. Makes for a lovely contrast in the doors :) And when you sand the wood, the grain sort of comes up. I am sure someone else could explain it better, but it is really cool.

Also I have been noticing that different woods smell differently. I mean, I knew this on an intellectual level before, but I know it on an olfactory level now. lol

Basically, Oak smells good, Maple smells ok, and Hickory STINKS! haha

Kevin doesn't think it stinks, but I do. I think it smells like weeds. :-p

Anyhow, we have been working hard trying to get it finished so we can cart it all up there by tomorrow! Daddy is letting us borrow his truck and stock trailer to take them up. We have to clean the horse poop out of it before we can load the cabinets on though ;) haha

Hopefully we will be doing that today. Kevin is spraying the cabinets today too, he gives them three coats of lacquer to make them nice and shiny. They always end up beautiful!!

Linda finally got high speed internet, so hopefully I will be able to get pics up of the kitchen as soon as they are finished installing the cabinets!! :)

They all grew up on me.

What the World Eats

Click HERE to see what/how the world eats. If you are a sap like me, you may cry. It also made me think about how we eat around here. Hmmmm.

Do we pay for packaging and processing more than nutrition anymore, or is it just me?

It makes one think.
